Quick intro
Applications are open for the Stanford Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program 2027. This is a major graduate scholarship program at Stanford University, USA, for students applying to eligible full-time Stanford graduate degree programs. The KHS application closes on 6 October 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Applicants must submit two separate applications: one to Knight-Hennessy Scholars and one to the Stanford graduate degree program. (Knight-Hennessy Scholars)
Benefits
Knight-Hennessy Scholars receive funding for up to three years. Funding includes tuition and associated fees, a stipend for living and academic expenses such as room and board, books, supplies, instructional materials, local transportation and reasonable personal expenses, plus a travel stipend for one economy-class annual trip to and from Stanford. Newly enrolling scholars also receive a one-time relocation stipend, and second- and third-year scholars may apply for supplemental academic enrichment funding. (Knight-Hennessy Scholars)
The scholarship covers:
- Tuition and associated fees
- Living and academic expense stipend
- Annual travel stipend
- One-time relocation stipend
- Possible academic enrichment funding
- Leadership development and scholar community access
Objectives
The program aims to develop a multidisciplinary community of Stanford graduate students with leadership potential, civic mindset, and the ability to work across fields. The application is designed to understand what applicants have done, who they are now, and what they aspire to do in the future. (Knight-Hennessy Scholars)
Eligibility criteria
For the 2027 cohort, applicants must have earned their first bachelor’s degree in January 2020 or later. Current college students are eligible if they will earn their first degree by September 2027. Applicants who served in their country’s military have a two-year extension, meaning they may be eligible with a first degree earned in January 2018 or later. International applicants must also meet the Stanford graduate program’s degree requirements. (Knight-Hennessy Scholars)
Required documents
The KHS application has five core components: online application form, resume, transcripts and test scores, recommendation letters, and short answers/essay. Test-score requirements follow the rules of the Stanford graduate program; if the degree program does not require standardized tests, KHS does not require them separately. (Knight-Hennessy Scholars)
How to apply
Create an account on the official Knight-Hennessy application portal and submit the KHS application before 6 October 2026, 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
