Quick intro
Applications are now open for the ASEF Capacity-Building on Gender Equality and Women’s Participation 2026. This is a three-day, in-person capacity-building program in Kunming, China, from 7 to 9 September 2026. It is organized by the Asia-Europe Foundation and hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province. The program will bring together approximately 20 participants from ASEM partner countries who work on gender equality, women’s participation, policy, advocacy, research, institutional practice, or public dialogue. Benefits
The co-organizers cover economy-class airfare to and from Kunming, China, through reimbursement up to a maximum ceiling. They also cover four nights of accommodation at the training venue, with check-in on 6 September and check-out on 10 September 2026. (Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF))

Objectives
The program aims to help participants build:
- A deeper understanding of structural, institutional, social, and cultural barriers to women’s participation
- Practical skills in gender analysis
- Understanding of gender-sensitive and gender-disaggregated data
- Knowledge of gender-responsive budgeting
- Monitoring approaches relevant to women’s participation
- Skills to mainstream gender equality in organizations, policies, and programs
- Peer-to-peer learning between Asia and Europe
- Concrete follow-up actions for participants’ professional contexts (Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF))
Eligibility criteria
Applicants should:
- Be citizens of eligible ASEM partner countries
- Have working proficiency in English
- Be involved in work related to gender equality or women’s empowerment
- Be in a position to influence policy, program design, institutional practice, advocacy, research, or public dialogue
- Represent government agencies, ministries, women’s commissions, social welfare/family/development departments, gender focal points, civil society organizations, academic institutions, or relevant private-sector organizations

- The endorsement letter must be in English
